Dave Frellsen - the "early" 510 years

When Dave and his wife Betty decided to start a family, they sold the 2000 roadster to Dick Starita, believing that racing would be out of the question for a little while. However, Dave did not count on Dick Roberts, Head of the Datsun Competition Department, who, seeing Dave's potential in the roadster, came to the rescue. In 1972 Dick asked Dave to build and race a 510 Datsun. Nissan provided support for the effort.

In 1973 Dave won the Central Division Championship and the National Championship (which had then become known as the "CSPRRC" (Champion Spark Plug Road Racing Classic) in his early style 510.

Dave's 510 was sold to Keith Bowman in southern Ohio and he raced it quite successfully for several years.
