Datsun Competition stripes

1968 - Datsun's competition stripes

Datsun Competition's preferred paint scheme - the background: After Jack Scoville's successes in his 1600 and 2000 roadsters, which sported yellow paint and black stripes, Mr.K and Nissan's Competition department decided on recommending the same theme for the Datsun Roadsters of all its amateur racers with dealer sponsorship - here are just two of 10 unique negatives showing the suggested stripes on one of Nissan HQ's own cars, the details of which they circulated to roadster racers as a recommendation prior to the 1968 runoffs at Riverside. The rear panel on the sample car and the leading edge of the hood were both painted in the same colour as the stripes, the front fenders included the mechanic's name (optional), while the rear fenders included the sponsoring dealer's name and address.
